



Carol Bly is winner of the 2001 Minnesota Humanities Award for Literature, the University of Minnesota's Edelstein-Keller Distinguished Minnesota Author in 1998-99, and the Minnesota Women's Press Favorite Woman Author for 2000. She has an honorary degree from Northland College. Carol has taught creative writing at Hamline University, Carleton College, the University of Iowa, ethics and creative writing at the University of Minnesota. She has taught in various summer writing conferences, in Oregon, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and most recently in 2006 at the University of Nebraska Annual Writing Conference, 2006.
Four chapters of her forthcoming novel, Shelter Half (Holy Cow! Press, 2008) have appeared in journals. Her current book is Beyond the Writers' Workshop: New Ways to Write Creative Nonfiction (Anchor Books, 2001).Other in-print books include My Lord Bag of Rice: New and Collected Stories (Milkweed Editions,2000), An Adolescent's Christmas: 1944 Afton Historical Society Press ) and Changing the Bully Who Rules the World (Milkweed,1996). Recently reprinted work includes Letters from the Country(Univ. of Minnesota Press) The short story "My Lord Bag of Rice" was chosen for and published in the Pushcart 25th anniversary collection (2002), originally from Laurel Review.
Carol Bly and Cynthia Loveland are proprietors of Bly & Loveland Press (www.blyandloveland.com). Bly & Loveland Press have published four books about psychological and literary aspects of life in the United States, and psychological and ethical aspects of pedagogy of teaching creative writing in the United States and the United Kingdom.
